I looove wax seals (for real, I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to them!), and there isn’t a single seal out there that is the perfect fit for every invitation suite. It simply does not exist, and that’s part of the beauty of wax seals! So today I’ve decided to take a moment to highlight some of my favorite wax seals created by other industry professionals.
I love how wax seals add literal and visual depth to an invitation suite. They are tactile, elegant and so diverse. Even the colors that you use will completely change the overall look and feel of a wedding invitaiton suite (and I don’t reserve them for weddings!). Anyway, before I get too carried away chatting about my intense love for all things wax seals and snail mail… here are my top 5 wax seal designs by other industry pros:
Pin one of these for later!
ATHENA | Artisaire
Okay, this beautiful crest and greenery are giving me heart eyes! I love how effortless and natural the greenery is, and the double boarder on the shield makes my heart so happy! This design can even be personalized with a monogram—and if I wasn’t a stationer myself, I would be pretty tempted by this design for our own wedding invitations (ya know… 6.5 years ago! haha)
ORNER | The Keen Bee
Another beauty! I am obsessed with the intricate details in this seal. Inspired by baroque architecture, this seal is the perfect accent to add to a more simple and safisticated suite. I wouldn’t pair it with any of my more modern work, but I wouldn’t want the other artwork to overpower it. Handmade paper and elegant calligraphy would compliment this seal while allowing it to shine. I would love to see this seal in a deep red color—that feels so period appropriate to me!
ROSEMARY | Paper Ocelot
Another beautiful stamp! I love the movement that Mahshed was able to achieve with this stamp. In my humble opinion, a simple greenery is one of my more versatile seal designs to choose—just like natural greenery, it’s hard for it to look out of place. And her signature wax seal color (Silver Sage) is the perfect partner for this lovely seal.
HEDERA | Ciarra Claire
I love a good wreath in a wax seal, and this elegant, loose greenery is one of my favorites! Hedera ivy is very trendy in the wedding industry (right up there with eucalyptus and italian ruscus, if you’re curious) and can be seen all over wedding stationery, in installations and bridal bouquets. I like this wax seal best with neutral wax colors—metalics or maybe a deep green, as long as it isn’t too bright.
Overall, a beautiful design—structured enough to keep the shape of a wreath, and juuust messy enough to make my heart happy!
POPPY | Papel & Co.
I’m sure you saw this coming—would it really be a round up of my favorite things WITHOUT a botanical? No. No it would not. These giant poppies have my heart—I’m all about those big, bold centers and floppy petals
I hope you have enjoyed this little journey through beautiful things that I love. Such a great opportunity to celebrate other designers and their work. The process isn’t always pretty, but one thing that I absolutely love about this industry is the beautiful results that come from all of the hard work and effort. Now, I’m DYING to know which of these designs is your favorite? Is there another design that I didn’t include in this list that you think I should reconsider? I could definitively make another list like this again!
And just in case you are new… this is the wax seal that I designed exclusively for Artisaire this summer.
I designed her to fit with my overall aesthetic and mission—fine art inspired, but with a fresh twist. She’s a modern take on a traditional cameo, and instead of a classic frame around her, I went with some organic greenery instead (in case you didn’t notice the theme… I’m a sucker for organic greenery!)
You can find the stamp here.
